situated directly opposite the multitude off-shore reefs collectively known as the Fury Shoals

dive sites are reached by specially designed fast RIB (Ridged Inflatable Boat)
offshore chain-reefs are filled with very rich marine life
pelagic fishes (jacks, tuna, sharks and rays) are cruising visitors
the hard corals, which make up the reef topography of Fury Shoals, are believed to be the one of best examples in the world
throughout the entire Red Sea there is no comparable area blessed with the most extensive and remarkable coral forest.

This is a great opportunity to dive the ‘deep south,’ whilst having the freedom and flexibility of being land based. This place is for adventurous divers seeking the opportunity to discover pristine reefs in a no frills “close to nature” expedition environment.

Diving program

Lahami Village offers 4 main diving programs; Leisure, Classic, Living the Passion and Fury Shoal Explorer.

1. The Classic Program consists of 3 dives during daylight hours plus a night dive (all dives by RIB). The diving program starts early morning and includes the Fury Shoals. The first 2 dives are guided and the afternoon and night dive are for buddies to dive on their own.

2. The Leisure Program includes 3 dives during daylight hours plus a night dive on the local house reefs, of which there are 8 different sites (all dives by RIB). This program has a later start and can also be designed to suit the guest’s requirements (not guided). Normal dive times are 08:30 / 11:00 / 15:00. This program can only be booked and paid on site and is subject to availability.

3. Living the Passion is a two day and one night excursion, which includes 6 dives during daylight hours plus a night dive on the outer Fury Shoals. This is an over night trip to Satayah (Dolphin Reef) and can only be booked and paid on site and is subject to availability. More info >>

4. Lahami's New 2009 Boat Diving Program – “Fury Shoal Explorer”. This program "The Satayah Experience" can be ‘pre-booked’ with your local agent with a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 18 guests. Our schedule is 7 nights as we dive the many wonderful dive sites in the Fury Shoals with our fast RIBS. Guest from Shagra and Nakari can also take full advantage of Lahami’s unique boat diving programs. More info >>

"Fury Shoal Explorer" Schedule 2009

A typical day (Classic program) in Wadi Lahami is as follows:

breakfast at 06:30am
departure around 06:45am and then the adventure begins into the heart of the Fury Shoals for 2 dives
coffee, tea, cake are served on the Rib between dives
return to the Eco-diving Village around 12:00 for lunch
after lunch and a short siesta we depart again to discover our local reefs (which we consider all our house reefs)
returning around 16:30pm
night dives start around 19:00pm (we do request divers bring their own torches).
during dinner, dive-sites for the following day are drawn on the white board (detailed maps, recommended routes etc.)

Divers Experience

diving in Wadi Lahami Village suits experienced divers
we require a minimum of 20 logged dives
diving computer and SMB are obligatory (rental computer € 10 per day)

Courses

all PADI courses from Open Water to Dive Master
we recommend Advanced Open Water Diver course for divers with less than 20 logged dives. Therefore after a 2-day Advanced course they can join their friends or partners for the remaining 3 days with the normal program.

Diving Area

fresh water for rinsing regulators, cameras, computers etc.

a bank of 220 V power points for battery recharging. It is recommended that the guests bring fast chargers (6 hours max.)
dive cylinders are 12 L Aluminum
fresh water showers to rinse your self after the dives

Equipment Rental

full dive equipment rental on site
please inform us in advance for any rental equipment requirements
for wetsuits and booties we will need to know your height & build plus foot size
please note that regulators fitted with extra second stage (octopus), SMB and diving computer are compulsory for every diver.

Dive Guiding Offshore Program

two guided dives in the morning only
3rd inshore dive is for buddy pairs to explore our wonderful housereefs
night dive takes place on the fringing reef closest to the Eco-diving Village
guided night dives available at extra cost, payable on site
detailed briefing of the dive sites will be given before the dive

Red Sea Diving Safari does not allow decompression diving and the maximum depth allowed is 30 m.

Facilities

Facilities include safes in the Reception. The Eco-diving Village has mobile connection. The provider is Mobinil. Important Notes

In some sea conditions the transfers by speed boat / RIB can be quiet physically demanding and are not suitable for people with back problems. Please bring a Cagoule / windcheater jacket with you to take on the RIB to protect you from the wind on your return journey.
