We are happy to announce that the winner of the RSDS Photo Competition for June 2025 has been chosen. Congratulations to Lars Kirkegaard with his photo "Swim by turtle".
Lars wins a free stay at the RSDS village of his choice. You can view the winning photo, and all the June participants here.
If you would like a chance to win, simply register on our website and upload your photos from our competition page. Each day we choose a 'photo of the day' from the selection of entries. Anyone can register on our website and vote on photos entered into the competition. At the end of the month our Photo Pro and photography workshop leader, Paul ‘Duxy’ Duxfield, looks at the votes and chooses a winner from the highest scoring photos. Full terms and conditions and prize details are available here.
Congratulations again to Lars, and good luck to all those participating in the coming months!
From Paul Duxfield, our competition judge:
I had the privilege of going through June’s selection aided and abetted by my partner Shelly Hibberd, no mean photographer and diver herself. And to be honest some times it’s refreshing to get a second opinion, especially if you’ve been looking through photos for a long time and are struggling to make a decision. So without any input from me as to which shots I prefer I like to get some affirmation that my initial choice is on the mark. And so I blindly ask for an opinion on the choices.
Luckily we both came to the same decision as if not I’d have had to close my laptop and come to the task the next day with a fresh set of eyes.
So in keeping things short and sweet I’m just going to talk about the joint decision to make Lars Kirkegaard the winner for June. A simply first class turtle portrait, it ticks a number of strong compositional boxes, Rule of Thirds, diagonals and simplicity. Well done Lars a worthy winner for June.
Well done to everyone else, keep up the good work and keep sending those entries in, and maybe you’d like to join our second Fotofest this year in December? It’s quickly filling up and we’re limiting the spaces to give everyone the best experience. This workshop is designed for camera users of all experience levels, with any type of underwater camera.
